Twyla is 16 weeks old!
Unfortunately she hasn't really lost any puppy teeth, and is teething like a maniac, which means more scrapes on my hands and toes. There are some random molars growing in on the sides of her mouth, but her front teeth are tiny and need to come out. No more nipping, please!
She got her 16-wk shots last night, rabies included.. and we scheduled her spay, bye bye chance of puppies!
She was such a good dog that we took her to petco, across the street and got her a new dog bed (she wore her old one out), a spiny squeaky pacifier (for teething), and a fluffy sheep to play with. Spoiled? Never. She tried to befriend a huge great dane, and tried to pounce a tiny Chihuahua. She has absolutely no concept of her own size! At the vet there was a really overweight dachshund, that was remotely interested in Twyla but too lazy to get up to play, and Twyla just sniffed at her like 'What is this thing?!'... funny.
Hopefully there will be another family puppy in the near future, for Twyla to befriend and play with. We have been going to Boston Dachshund play group, but it is only once a month and it would be good to get more frequent dog interaction for the pup. Right now she only regularly sees my mom's blind Cockapoo, Sam, and my aunt's bearded collie, and other larger dog... that don't really understand who this tiny black biter that moves at the speed of light is!
Anyways, here are a few more videos of the little devil in action

Lots of videos!
Life with our almost 16-week old puppy has been wonderful, and fun, and crazy!
Twyla is so smart, and a huge performer especially in front of people she doesn't see often. She has found her bark, which is louder than any dog of any size I have ever encountered. Luckily, she doesn't abuse it, reserving the alarm for when she isn't getting enough attention or when she is hungry. Twyla was more than excited to see snow today, she has been missing it for the past few weeks- climbing on her dwindling mini-mountain of icy snow in the backyard. She has learned how to fetch sticks, make her toys squeak, and how to sit up on her hind feet like a lemur.
Because I have been so awful about continuous posting here are four new videos of the tiny terror!
Twyla... the paper thief!
Puppy Roll...
Twyla... the computer programmer!
Twyla... the Hello Kitty aficionado

The beginning...
So... besides making many crank calls on my cell phone...
...And commandeering the remote to watch such hits as the Dog Whisperer, It's Me or the Dog,
and shows on PETtv...
...Twyla started off the Christmas season by becoming obsessed with gift wrap tubes!!!
Video below, of her in action.
She plays very hard, and takes the destruction of cardboard quite seriously.

The very first post!
First post, and with the amount of sass from this little monster there will be many more! Twyla is a 11.5 week old, 4.1 lb longhaired miniature dachshund! She hails from way north Vermont, where we saw border control and snow, much too early in the year!
Twyla's favorite activities include napping, trying to climb inside the refrigerator, and giving copious amounts of attitude while being insanely cute and therefore getting away with it. She also loves wrestling half gallons of milk, collecting tons of toys to reign over, and pressing buttons on the laptop to see if any noise will come out. She is currently on a toe-biting streak, and has driven us to wear slippers around the house.
The next posts will perhaps venture into the past five weeks, from where Russell and I have a huge stockpile of photos and videos... who knows!
